Excuses

I saw a lady wearing a shirt at the expo that I think will be my new walking affirmation.

It said, " I found time, not excuses."

Blisters and Tanks

Today I walked 9 miles with Maria around Bunker Hills in Andover. The good thing about walking the longer walks is that we stop for a treat!! I had a Snickers candy bar at the Super America.

This is Maria's 4th 3 Day so she's a wealth of information. Little insider tips... She was also the training walk leader yesterday for the Expo.
So yesterday I walked 6 miles and today 9... that was my first back to back walk and my feet show it!
What the heck am I going to do when we do 14 and 10 or heck 23, 23 and 14!!! Ack!!
I could feel that my toes were sore but I actually thought it was just from my big toe pushing down on the pad of my smaller toe. Just pressure... but no it's an actual blister. I ended up with 3 and now I think I should wait until Thursday to walk again so I can heal up a bit. I would walk Tuesday but Joe is gone for the night and Wednesday I have plans....
So much for my no excuses...
If I go before they're healed I'll put band aids on 'em I guess.

3 Day Expo

Today was the Breast Cancer 3 Day Expo in Minneapolis. There were two scheduled walks... a 12 mile and a 5.5 mile. I'll just let you guess which one I chose. A little hint... Alex spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa Carron's house so I was out late. : )

It was a beautiful walk along the river and after we all met at Minnehaha Academy. Some sponsors were there giving out water and ice cream bars. After everyone was in from the walk they had us all gather in a "holding pen" and make a grand entrance into the school gym for the expo.

There was a drawing with items donated from sponsors and 3 Day apparel. I am usually not the person who wins drawings but today I won a 4 class certificate to The Yoga Center of Minneapolis. Pretty cool! When my name was announced a few of my friends who didn't know I was walking found me.
In the gym they had displays set up for what to pack and how to set up your tents. There were a couple of places where you could write yourself an inspirational letter that volunteers would pass out during the 3 Day walk. I made my team a big poster that they will display along the route. There were also workshops in different rooms covering things like what to pack for the 3 Day and how to care for your feet. I had a hard time hearing what the speaker was saying in the main room and that was pretty frustrating because I wanted to hear "Taking Care of Your Tootsies".

I met a lady today that has walked the Breast Cancer 3 Day 4 times and the Avon walk (20miles??) 2 times! She was really nice and had some great advice. These training walks have been the best for me. Very informative and motivating.

Where's the Camera!?

Tonight I walked with my neighbor Ann. We went around Palmer Lake (3miles). Once again we saw deer eating in the trees.... of course no camera. Seems the times I bring my camera nothing shows up??
It was really nice out though and I stopped for Culvers after. I think with all of the ice cream stops Joe is getting rather fond of my walking : )

Back on Track?? Maybe...

I haven't been walking much. I know you all just thought I was walking like crazy but forgetting to update, right??
Sorry to burst your bubble... I'm a slacker.
Anyway,

I went out last night and walked around Palmer Lake... it's actually more of a Palmer Large Pond. There is a lot of wildlife though.

So I know I mentioned that maybe my neighborhood isn't the safest place to walk but if you look closely at this picture I think you'll agree that the weapons are getting a bit out of hand!!

On Vacation!

Sorry....
I know I haven't posted in a while but I was on vacation in California. I was visiting my sister Amanda in Laguna Beach.

I did bring my walking shoes and boy did I get a workout!!

I've realized two things... I have muscles in places I didn't know I had and I really need to get this asthma thing under control!

Hills, hills and more hills that is all Laguna has! Well that and an amazing ocean view! We walked everywhere we needed to go. Beach, dinner, farmers market, to get a pedicure, shopping and up some ridiculously steep hill which we actually had to sneak into a gated community to walk up!!

My legs were sooo sore... but it was that good sore that you want to stretch your legs out to feel : )

As usual... when I walk I see some pretty crazy things. Notice the pants!!
This is a picture of "Lewis" from the Drew Carey Show!!! He was eating lunch at the Rose Garden Tea Room that we were eating at!! Pretty dang cool! (If you click on his picture it will blow it up bigger so you can see him better!)

8 Miles

I walked with the Hawiian Ohanas today. I haven't been brave enough to ask yet but I think Ohanas means (boobies).
We walked 8 miles around the Coon Rapids Dam. Last Wednesday I bought my big "waist pack" from Wal-Mart. It was only $10!! I was thinking I would have to buy some expensive $50 pack but Gretchen told me I could just get this one.
I tried it out for the first time today. My lower back got a bit sweaty but I was expecting that.
While on this walk I met another Gretchen from Brooklyn Park and she may join Gretchen and I on our walks during the week!
